Had this outfit inspect my home prior to purchase. This was a mistake on my part, but there was no reviews on the internet, so I thought I would give them a try. The day we moved in it was discovered that the sewer line from the house was "clogged". When the plumbers showed up, they found that the line was not clogged....but that the line was destroyed years ago by a tree, and all that was left was dirt. I would avoid this company like the plague. I put my trust into their "company" to inspect my home. That trust cost me $6,500 just for the replacement of my sewer lateral. This spring I am going to have to call a landscape company to repair the front yard, and am expecting another $2-4k bill. They also refused to issue a refund stating that they followed all proper protocol and found nothing wrong with my home. This company missed something so blatantly obvious. Steer clear at all costs. Now that there are some reviews on the internet, hopefully others can assess if they want to give their trust to this outfit.

My experience with Brian Wentz and his company Inspect-A-Home has been disastrous. I noticed a leak in my basement that, according the plumber who serviced the call, had been taking place for a considerable amount of time prior to my purchase of the home. The plumber described this as an oversight during the inspection completed by Brian Wentz himself. At the advice of the plumber, I contacted Brian with this issue and he explained that he would gather my information and respond within the week with a solution. I did not hear from Brian after a seven days of waiting so I called and left a message. I again reached out in a phone message a few days later with no response. I then called several more times over the course of a month and received no communication from Brian. After some thought and discussion with my pregnant wife, who has suffered the most during this extensive ordeal as we are unable to use our second floor bathroom, I hired an attorney who immediately sent Brian a letter asking him to respond to my inquiries. Brian responded right away to my attorney in what was a very poorly written email reiterating that the inspection report he had completed was done properly and there was no issue. He then went on to describe how he had called me citing specific dates and times and that I was the one not responding to him. I was very alarmed because of my previous efforts to reach him so I took the liberty at the behest of my attorney to access my phone records. What I found in writing from my phone company was our correspondence: one phone call between us and many attempts on my end to contact him. None of these matched his assertions in the written letter to my attorney. I then called Brian leaving yet another message letting him know that I had pulled my phone records and the seriousness of the falsehoods he had put in writing. He actually called me within few hours later asking me to describe the issue and how I would like it remedied. I let me know of my disappointment and anger at the way in which he treated my wife and me as his customers. I simply asked for a refund of the inspection because I wanted my dealings with him to finally cease. He told me he would refund the inspection after our brief discussion. Brian then called the next day asking for proof from my plumber which claimed he had been negligent with his inspection report before he can refund the money paid. He said this was needed for his accountant. I told my attorney the news and he described this as another blatant lie. He immediately drafted a release letter to Brian to pay back the money or there will be a lawsuit in which he will be required to pay for all of the repairs to my home. Brian has yet to respond so it appears we will be going to court. Fortunately, my attorney has assured me with that this will be a rather easy decision for a judge to rule in my favor given the proof of Brian’s dishonesty written in his own words matched against my phone records in addition to the evidence from the plumber. As a businessperson myself who works in the service industry, I am completely shocked and angered by Brian Wentz' actions. He appears to me as very dishonest person and perhaps not very knowledgeable in his field. I believe he only responded to me after months of attempts because I let him know that he had lied about when our only conversation took place and his attempts to contact me. To me, this shows guilt. I can imagine his lack of integrity must bleed into his personal life. I hope this review helps everyone looking for a trustworthy and knowledgeable inspector to avoid Brian Wentz and his business, Inspect-A-Home.
